Guide to enjoying the Festival Season

Grab your tent and wellies, it’s that time of the year again – it’s Festival season! Various music festivals are taking place over the length and breadth of Britain from T in the Park in the wilds of Scotland to Glastonbury in the English countryside .The greatest music performers in the world will descend upon these urban areas to deliver some of the most exciting music around. Spectators will no doubt be drenched in British rain but these fans wont care – they have got use to it. A British festival would not be the same without the occasional downpour.
Tickets were sold out well in advance of the hotly anticipated Parklife Festival 2010 situated in England’s Manchester. The Parklife festival takes place in Manchester’s Platt Fields and features over 40 acts across 6 stages with a line up that consists of names such as Friendly Fires and Booka Shade. The event is celebrated its 100th anniversary and for this reason, tickets sold out in record time. There was a real emphasis on value for money, top quality acts and other kinds of madness that was planned in order to kick start Summer with a bang. The festival began on June the 12th 2010 and tens of thousands of music lovers partied the weekend away. There are still opportunities to acquire tickets through competitions and prize draws for some of the other great music festivals. The opportunity to win festival tickets will still be appealing to many.
One of great things about Festivals is the variety of entertainment on offer. At the Parklife Festival, if you became rather bored of the music on offer there were other means to whittle the hours away. You could have made your head spin by jumping on some of the Funfair rides on offer or watch one of the many recommended comedy acts. There were various sports events available but these would not be ideal if you were suffering from a hangover.
Festivals may not be for you if you are one who prefers a quiet peaceful sleep, a comfortable mattress and quality meals. But that is what makes festivals so great. It is a break away from the norm, a chance to leave behind the banality of everyday life and experience something new. You do not necessarily need to listen to the music in order to enjoy the experience. Musicians such as Calvin Harris, Kele and The Japanese Popstars may not be your ideal choice of music. The music is only half the fun, the other half is taken up by the sheer joy of camping with your friends and just escaping the 9-5 lifestyle. The Parklife Festival 2010 did not disappoint and proved to be one of the greatest festivals in years.
